Subject:  Spiritually Secure

Revelations 3:17 "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:"

We make much ado about financial security in our country.  Most people seem to work to get to that place where they can retire, relax and just take it easy.  I have never thought this a worthwhile goal for a number of reasons, chief of them being, God designed us to work.

However, today I want to talk about investing in our "spiritual security."  Imagine staying up late at night trying to figure out how we were going to reach the next spiritual plateau.  Imagine contemplating, how we were going to make our prayers more authentic to God; how we were going to ensure that our hearts were clean and pure.  Imagine us just taking time out of our day to "balance" our lives the way we used to do checkbooks.  That may all sound ridiculous, but that's what we should do before we think about establishing financial security or any other kind of security.

After all, remember that you can have lots of silver, gold and all kinds of treasure.  In one second, God can ask you to give it all away, as he did with the rich young ruler.  Are you in the place where you can give it all up for Him just like that?  If not, you've made the wrong investments in life regardless of how much money you have in the bank.

Today there are many types of security you can have, but the first one you want is spiritual because everything else leaves you in a terrible state of poverty and you wouldn't even know it.
