Subject: Why God Does Miracles
John 6:26 - "Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled."
Most everyone sings the song "Our God Is An Awesome God" in their church or some song like it. It is good and right that we sing how magnificent and great our mighty God is. However, have you really ever considered why He shows Himself to be so great? It's great that we can talk about great deeds, signs and miracles that He has shown, but if we are not careful, we will be like the 5,000 who were fed with two fish and five loaves.
Based on the verse above, the 5,000 multitude seems to have the same problem many of us have today. God performs a miracle in our lives, we are in awe but we just don't get it. We think it's just about us being satisfied in the circumstance as they did. So Instead of us acting on the miracle, we just keep talking about the miracle. In other words, God doesn't perform miracles just to satisfy our temporary needs, He performs them for us to believe on Him and in so believing, we might move or do what He wants done in our lives.
Think about it. If Moses and the children of Israel had come to the Red Sea and watched it part and then just stood there saying, "wow did you see that? Praise God for He is mighty!" If they had just stood there talking about the miracle, they would have been vanquished by the approaching enemy. It's the same for us today.
Today don't just seek to be satisfied by the miracle, but instead move for God because of it. After all, that's why God does miracles in the first place.
