Subject:  The Exodus

Exodus 11:1 - "And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether."

Totally chaotic.  Those are the words to describe Houston on last Wednesday and Thursday as almost 3 million people tried to leave the area for safety ahead of Hurricane Rita.  By now many have heard the horror stories of people spending 20 or 24 hours in their car sitting on a highway with some eventually running out of gas.  It was terrible.  But while The Great Exodus was taking place, my mom was going about her business and basically, "chilling."  When we asked her about her plan, she simply stated, "I've not been led to flee."

I'll have to admit that I really didn't ponder much the pros and cons of weathering the storm.  I knew that if my parents were going to be there, then I'd be there with them so the question was easily answered for me on whether to stay or go.  However for all of us, the question on staying or going should be as easily answered as mom made it.  If she hadn't been told to go, then why should she go?  If she had left on the Texas Exodus, she would've suffered much pain and agony on the hot, crowded, going-nowhere-fast highways of Texas.  Listening and waiting on God prevented that.

I was going to count how many times the book of Exodus said, "The Lord said unto Moses" but it was just too many.  Moses was told to get up out of Egypt and you know the rest of the story.  Today, if you're gonna be a part of an Exodus, those first three words are key, "The Lord said."  Because if "The Lord didn't say," then why are you on the road?
