Subject:  Recession Correction

Matthew 24:6 - "And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet."

The human is an interesting being to observe.  While I'm a part of that species, it's always funny to see how he, the human, responds to situations and circumstances.  In recent days, you've heard so much about how we're facing this monumental financial crisis in the country.  In fact, the President of our country was on TV last night addressing us about it.  I hate that I missed it, but I have a pretty good idea what he said I'm sure.   Those who saw it can let me know if I'm wrong.  My guess though is that he said that we must get this huge taxpayer funded bailout of these mortgaging institutions or face a recession unlike anything we've seen since the great depression of the '30s.  He might not have said that about the '30s but I'm sure he made it seem like we have to do this (bailout).

I've learned throughout my Christian life, in many hard ways sometimes, that God has His ways that are beyond our control and the only thing we can do is live on His principles.  For many years we've flaunted our economic prosperity to the rest of the world and my wife and mother talked about this last night how Americans have been so proud of the ability to live in huge houses, drive expensive cars, and as many do, live beyond their means.  We saw banks and loan companies giving loans to those who couldn't afford them and a congress that stood by and applauded it.  Well perhaps the recession or depression that we're trying to avoid is simply a correction for those who have lived that way.

As I've stated before, I'm just not smart or savvy enough to answer this housing crisis with an economics answer, but I do know that God has His way of making corrections to things that are out of line.

The bottom line is that we need to stop crying out that this is the end.  Had we been living our lives as though we were getting closer to His end, we would be less devastated by the ends that we seem to be bringing on ourselves.

Today just praise God that He makes the crooked straight and you can take that to mean a lot of things concerning where we are in this country.
