Subject:  Debt With A Purpose

Luke 21:4 - "For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had."

So once God brings life into focus a little, what are we to do?  Well we are still to heed his every command, because there is still a wrong way to do a right thing.  However, many people remain mired in mediocrity because they are unwilling to invest themselves and their resources in that thing that God has designed them to do.  Stifled by investment guru clichés regarding how debt is a no-no, these types of people sit at home frustrated with life because they have not given to God's cause for their lives.

God has created us all for His purposes.  The beauty in that is how uniquely He has designed each of us; one for this thing and one for that.  He also gives us all the resources we need to do this or that.  The question becomes, how are we managing those resources.  The answer has nothing to do with our debt/earnings ratio, but instead, our purpose/heart ratio.

The woman in the account above gave up all she had for God's purposes.  Penury means that she was flat broke.  However, she was willing to give it all up because she knew God's purpose for her and she had a heart for Him.

Today, if we know that God has called us to do something, then we must invest ourselves and our resources.  Being broke and having no money isn't nearly as bad as being rich and living without purpose.  Giving all that you have while chasing the God-given desires of your heart, now that's debt "with" a purpose.
