Subject:  Terrorists, Take Down This Tower

Proverbs 18:10 - "The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe."

To many it is now seemingly a distant memory.  Seven years ago today though, it was so much different.  Their was terror and panic in the streets of the U.S.  It had been almost 60 years since we had seen this kind of attack visited on U.S. soil.  However this time it wasn't against our military forces as was the attack on Pearl Harbor, it was on ordinary citizens.  If you can reflect on the aftermath and the days shortly after 9/11/01, you will remember there was unity in this country that many had never experienced.  Churches experienced increased attendance and God was once again welcome in schools, homes, business, basically everywhere.  Well that lasted for a little while anyway.

Safety is always underrated until it is gone and there is no place of safety like the safety that God offers.  I love the verse above and thought about creating a t-shirt that had the words "Jesus Christ" written in the form of two tall buildings with a caption that said, "Terrorists, try to take down this tower."

Today I will give a speech to a Christian Men's group and talk to them about terror and safety.  Terror manifests itself in our lives, not only from people from other countries willing to kill us, but also from within our homes, jobs and sometimes even our churches.  For all of the terror in our lives there is only one place of safety and that is in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

He is a strong tower and one that will never be destroyed.  The scripture says that the "righteous" run into it and are safe.  I say that not only are they righteous, they are wise to do so.
