Subject:  I Want To See Jesus

Luke 19:1-5 - "And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.  And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.  And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.  And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him:  for he was to pass that way.  And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house."

My favorite verse in all of the Bible is Matthew 6:33 that says that if we seek Him first, then all things will be added.  That verse works on so many levels because God tells us so often throughout His word how we should seek Him.  To phrase it according to the passage above, if we want things fixed in our lives or if we want change, then we've got to want to see Jesus.  To see Jesus means to seek Him, and in seeking Him, we begin not only to just see Him, but we see the world from His perspective.

Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus.  Because he was a short man, which I can relate to, he climbed into a tree to get a better perspective.  Today, have you climbed a tree to get a better perspective of Jesus or is that too much work?  Climbing a tree could be giving up something that has been hindering your walk, sacrificing a meal one day to spend time with God, or simply reading His word on a more regular basis.  For Zacchaeus, it took some effort in order to see Jesus more clearly.  Similarly, if we really want a life that not only pleases Him, but a life that satisfies, we must truly want to see Him.

Let's seek Him.
