Subject:  A Little More Information

Genesis 3:4-5 - "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

The Information Age is almost over and we have had so much information that we didn't know what to do with it.  Information was supposed to be a good thing.  Everybody wants the 4-1-1.  But what has happened?  We have found that too much information can be as bad as too little or no information.  Yes, excessive information can cause many problems.  Oftentimes, that's what Satan uses to throw us off of God's clear path.

A few examples.

#1 - God tells you to take a certain job.  You take that job, but afterwards, someone tells you about a job that pays more, is closer to home and has shorter hours.  You switch jobs because of all of the benefits.

#2 - God tells you to give away that extra car to someone who needs one.  You find out that if you give it away, it's going to cost you more than if you keep it.  You decide to hold on to it for a little longer so that it depreciates some.

#3 - God tells you to witness to a certain person.  You find out that this person has been living in sin and has an immoral lifestyle.  You ignore the person and fail to engage them in a friendship citing the biblical passages about being "unequally yoked."

Satan's ways often appear to make more sense and leave us wondering "what if?"  Does a "what if" matter when God has clearly spoken.  Look at Eve in the garden.  She knew what God had said about which trees she could eat from.  However, Satan thought that perhaps she needed a little more information.  So he obliges.

Today we need to think about the things that God has clearly said to us; stop right there and submit to them.  Waiting will of course provide us with more information, but after God speaks, who needs more information?
