Subject: Does God Hear Us?
Psalms 18:6 - "In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears."
It's really amazing. As the hunt for the serial sniper appears to come to an end, once again many are being credited with their abilities to investigate this and look into that and ultimately, this breaks the case. Perhaps we should consider more closely what happened.
The alleged snipers, as now reported, had been killing since mid September. Initially leaving no notes and alluding police to the utmost. After the Maryland spree of seven killings in two days, the fear and panic stage entered for the area. Little did we expect that there would still be almost twice as many shootings to come. It was also about this time that we made it a prayer request. According to reports from the individual who discovered the snipers sleeping at the rest stop on early yesterday morning, he and a few fellow truck drivers also held a prayer vigil for the area about that time. October 17th to be exact.
So even being hot on the trail of the snipers, deaths were still mounting and many believed that the sniper could simply vanish and never be found. Was he a foreign terrorist, and American gone mad or what? Then all of a sudden, "the pieces began to come together." At this point, it's either man's great ability to make this happen or there's someone who is hearing the cry of His people. This reminds me of many of the great old testament stories where God's people are going to battle and preparing to fight and He tells them, "you need not fight, the victory is already yours." Can you imagine that? Not only do they find the sniper, but with all of the sniper's elusive ability, they are caught sleeping. Uhmmm!
Okay, lots of explanations can be made and I could go on and on, but consider this; perhaps, "our cry came before Him, even unto His ears."
