Subject:  You Know and I Know

Matthew 9:4 - "And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?"

"From miles away they judge from my expression and it looks to them that nothing could be wrong.  Everything in my life till now was going my way and I must admit I'm playing right along.  But you know and I know...what's going on inside."

These words were penned by Bebe Winans in a song where he talks about how we put on a facade of being in a right relationship with God, but deep inside, we know we're not and of course, He knows that we're not.  I think about this often when I have a less than Christian thought or response to a matter and keep moving on as if it never happened.  This is sin and we must come before an omniscient God and acknowledge it as such.  Do we really think that perhaps He didn't see it or that he doesn't hear our cruel and mean little jokes and gestures that we often make.  Or maybe it was just a thought.  Maybe I really didn't think it.

In the passage above, like us, Jesus didn't need to hear audibly what those people were saying, because He knew the thoughts and intentions of their hearts and I must say, quite a bit better than they knew themselves.  That's so true for us today also and so while I can fake it with men and my sins and evil thoughts can remain covered to them, with God, Lord "You know and I know what's going on inside."
