Subject: Taking Us To Court
Luke 12:11 "And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say."
The nation's largest group of atheists and agnostics is suing President Bush and other officials over the federal law mandating the National Day of Prayer. The Freedom of Religion Foundation filed suit last week, claiming the President's call to Americans to pray violates the constitutional ban on government officials promoting religion.
The lawsuit says the Day of Prayer creates a "hostile environment for non-believers who are made to feel as if they are political outsiders. The group has filed several lawsuits over the years. Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a suit against President Bush's faith-based initiative by this same group.
Now I don't know if this group just really hates President Bush or if they just hate God, but what I do know is that we should all feel like they are against us. This is what the scripture was talking about in the scripture about how "the world" would "bring us unto magistrates and powers" for our beliefs. It was interesting when I heard about it too because there had been no response from President Bush or the White House or from Shirley Dobson, the National Chair for the Day of Prayer. Therefore they were fulfilling the second part of the scripture. God says that He will tell them what to say when they need to speak.
The first and last thing this country needs is a government without God. Freedom "of" religion has nothing to do with freedom "from" religion.
Today let's pray for those in authority and especially those of the faith who desire for us to be lead by God. The others, pray that they come to know Him.
