Subject:  24 Hours To Do What?

Nehemiah 9:3 - "And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God."

I frequently find myself using that standard line, "...just not enough hours in a day."  I normally sleep about 5 hours a day and so the other 19 are used doing things.  Well, last week I tried something new.  I had to put my car in the shop for some maintenance so I decided to walk home from work.  I also decided to walk to do errands the next day instead of asking for a ride.  I live about a mile or so from my office and about a mile from most any other place I would go.  It was an interesting experience and I realized that if we take the time, we actually have the time.  The walking simply slowed down my day and it seemed to slow down time itself.  When I get into my car, I'm usually rushing to try to get somewhere to do something.  Well as I walked, I was able to simply take my time and by the time I reached home, nothing seemed that urgent.

Most of this especially applies to our worship of God, whether it be praying, studying, reading or just resting in Him.  We often don't think we have the time, but if we take the time, we'll see that we always had it.  Every day is the Lord's and not just Sunday so a wise investment would be to spend time every day in the worship of God.  That's being a wise steward.  He's given us 24 hours a day to worship Him.  How do we use the 24 is the question.  Look what the Israelites did in Nehemiah.  Now that's an investment that will pay off.  You have time if you take the time.
