Subject:  Representing

Exodus 17:15- "And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:."

Of course you've got to say that title in the slang form, "representin," so that it sounds correct.  At any rate, today's story goes like this:

My brother and I needed to switch vehicles.  He has a truck and I have a minivan and I needed to pick up some hay and he had need to transport some people, so it worked out for both of us.  However, my wife laughed at me all night as I tried to figure out how I could drive his truck with a pro-Barack Obama bumper sticker on it.  I had a few ideas on how I could cover or alter the bumper sticker because I didn't want to be seen as endorsing him for President.  Finally my wife said, "boy that is really bothering you, isn't it?"  I explained, "of course, how would I look driving around in my military uniform with a sticker that is against what I do?"

That last point is one that I've often thought about as we walk around daily as believers with "bumper stickers" on that are against what we believe or even vice versa.  We might carry a bumper sticker that says Christ, but then we act or do things against God and the principles of His word.

Today the banner that we carry should match our lives.  Jehovah Nissi says that God is my banner.  I'm wondering today if the banner that I carry matches what I believe.  I need to represent well what I believe.  God is my banner.
