Subject: What Computers Can't Do
2 Corinthians 5:7 - "For we walk by faith, not by sight:"
How do you measure your trust in God? How do you measure your love for God? How do you measure your obedience to God? These are all pretty tough things to do and because we feel we need a measure we try to make one. Sometimes it's in the form of a rule such as tithing. We often believe that we can say that we love God if we give of our material possessions or it can be measured by church attendance. If I go to church every Sunday, then I must really care for God.
While these things might be used as rulers to measure our commitment and/or devotion to God, ultimately these things fall short. While God often referred to "great" faith and "little" faith in the bible, and while there are many examples of faith by men and women of God in the bible, it's tough for us in this computer-oriented society not to be able to compute our faith. In fact, being able to measure it would fly in the face of faith itself because as Hebrews 11:1 says, "...faith is the evidence of things not seen." It's not something that we will be able to capture, bottle or measure. However, we are encouraged in the verse above to walk (live our lives) this way.
Computers can do a lot of things, but in matters of faith, computers fail.
