Subject: Endurance
2 Timothy 2:3 "Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ."
There's got to be something said about the effort the Houston Astros are putting forth in their first ever World Series. While they haven't won a game and are one game away from losing the entire series, last night's game exemplified how tough each game has been. Last night's game became the longest World Series game ever played and of course the Astros lost 7 to 5. Well, it is just a game, but their effort is what many Christians could use in their walks with God. It's called endurance.
Many believe today that if things are difficult, then perhaps we should give up and not press on to accomplish the matter. Of course that can be true at times if God has spoken and given you directions about the ease of the matter. However, frequently the opposite will be true as in the case of Moses. He continually spoke to Moses about how he would be rejected by the Egyptian king, but Moses would need to endure the rejection and just keep doing what God told him to do.
Today, like Moses and the Astros, whether it seems a victory or a loss, we need to endure and press on in the spiritual baseball game of life. The victory will come and if we listen to God and continue in His way, it already has.
