Subject:  The Constitution Isn't The Problem

Gen 8:21b "For the imagination of man's heart [is] evil from his youth..."

The mother of the Civil Rights movement passed on yesterday.  Rosa Parks died at the age of 92.  She is remembered for her act of defiance in 1955 when she didn't give her seat to a white man when the rules required Blacks to do so.  Of course the rest of the story is how that led to the bus boycott organized by Martin Luther King Jr. and the rest is as they say, history.  It ended with the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Acts.   Rosa Parks said a few years back that her purpose in defying the unjust law was "for people to understand the government and to understand their rights and the Constitution."  Yes and people are still trying to perfect today.

The problem then, like today is that the answer to these problems is rooted in the evil in men's hearts.  We definitely should advocate changes in the law and amendments to the constitution so that truth, justice and equality are always prevailing, but we will continue to fight the battle against the unregenerated human heart.  As the scripture above says, "from youth its imagination is evil."  So with that in mind, the law and the constitution are merely tools to conform behavior and that's a good thing, but for those who choose to live "The Christ life" we have been freed from the law and when we submit to the Holy Spirit, we will always live in harmony with our fellow man, at least where we are concerned, because in the end, it's not the constitution that is the problem, its our evil sinful hearts.

Today let us pray for all hearts to be made renewed with the love of Christ.
