Subject:  A Second Touch

Mark 8:22 - 25 "And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.  And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.  And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.  After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly."

God's miraculous work in our lives is always for His glory but it's amazing what we can learn from His working.  In the case of the man in this story.  Why didn't God heal him the first time that He touched his eyes?  Is it because it took two times to heal this man?  Can't God do everything?  Then why did it take two times?

Think of it this way.  Hasn't there been a time in your life where you thought that you knew something only to find out later the full depth of the matter?  The feeling of not having complete knowledge or not having the full answer only magnifies the significance of the final outcome.  Whether it is knowledge or a miraculous work of healing such as the man from Bethsaida, when we can see the distinction between being totally blind, partially blind and full sight, then we understand more deeply the power of God.

Many times in life, God leads us through steps in restoring us.  It's not that He couldn't do it overnight, but it's that we might grow into an understanding of His saving and miraculous power in our lives.  Sometimes He does it in one action but sometimes when He knows that we need it, He'll give us the blessing of a second touch.
