Subject:  God's Workload

Exodus 18:17 - 18 "And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.  Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone."

It was an incredible week at work dealing with the students and everything else going on.  It's homecoming week at Willowridge High School and we've got lots of activities going on.  I had an ARD meeting (hearing on whether or not to retain the student in school) on one of my students.  We had two students disciplined for drugs.  We had another with an unexplained illness.  One was tracked down for truancy.  We were called to the schools PD on 3 separate occasions for other violations and we had a host of other students crying for one reason or another.  It was a wild week.  This doesn't include the regular things like boyfriend/girlfriend and parent problems the students have on an almost daily basis.

I definitely felt like Moses as he was taking advice from his father-in-law in the passage above about how to deal with the issues of his people.  Then I thought about something else.  If this is my workload and I feel overwhelmed with such small matters, how great is a God who can deal with not only these types of issues, but issues in the minds and hearts of people that even they haven't thought of yet?  That's a great, great God.

The interesting thing about some of my resolutions to the problems is that when I give them, even then I sense how temporary that solution probably is.  It works for awhile and then the environment changes or the situation changes for the student and they have the same or new issues to deal with.  However, when God implements a solution for a problem, it's good not only for that time, but for eternity.  His solutions are permanent and His workload is not overwhelming.

So whatever your issue is today, whether you even know if it's an issue or not, take it to the Master Teacher.  All of His students have issues and all of His answers to those issues are good and just.  He's handling His business like only He can do it.
