Subject:  The Next Place To Help

Psalms 46:1 - "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

This time it's in India, Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan.  The latest death toll stands at 20,000 and the fear is that the number could be 30,000 before it's all said and done.   Surely relief agencies around the world are preparing to send help and many in the region are already complaining about the aid being slow.

While they await aid, it is once again time for the people of God to get them the help now and we can do that by praying on the behalf of the hurting.  We can pray to Him who is a "very present help in time of trouble."  However the only way that we'll do that is if we have God's heart concerning the matter.  We've had two major hurricanes in the last couple of months and we lost approximately 1,500 people.  That was close to home and so we were driven to think about what God was up to and to render aid where possible.  Now we have a disaster that could be 10 times worst as far as the human death toll goes so we should be driven by the heart of God to do what we can.

Around the world or around the corner, with God as our guide, we should be looking for the next place to help and in a lost and dying world (physically and spiritually) it won't take us long to find opportunities to do so.  When we do help, remember, they need a "very present help" more than anything else.  Let's help that way today.
