Subject:  My Bible And My Socks

1 Samuel 3:1 - "And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision."

It was a Sunday morning and I was feverishly looking for my bible.  Where did I put that thing?  It reminded me of looking for that one particular pair of socks that I can never seem to find when I want them.  Well socks is one thing, but I really can't get along without my bible.  I should always know where it is.  It's a sad day when you don't look for your bible until Sunday morning.

Of course I do much of my biblical work and study on the computer, but many times, even in my own life, the bible is placed on the shelf and only used as a last resort and when life has collapsed around us.  It is then that most Christians remember that there are answers that they are missing out on.

Today ask yourself the question, can you gauge your spiritual life by knowing where your bible is?  Is your bible by your bedside or somewhere close where you can have ready access to it or is it still sitting where you put it last Sunday when you got home from church?  There are lots of things that it won't matter in life if you lose; your favorite pair of socks, a dress, your purse or even your wallet, but if you lose access to the word of God, you'll be lost for sure.  His word is precious.
