Subject:   Vulnerable

2 Corinthians 12:10 - "Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."

After having surgery on my bicep in May, I lost the use of my left arm.  I was finally able to begin exercising the arm in September.  After school started in August, I always had this feeling of vulnerability because of my weakened physical state.  I always felt as though I would need the use of my physical strength and not have it.  Then one day I though to myself, "well I guess I'll have to pray more...rely on God more."  Afterwards I realized that God weakened me specifically for that reason.

God didn't make us strong so that we could rely on our strength.  If we are strong in an area of our lives, He did it for us to submit that strength to Him.  Unfortunately, most of the times He has to weaken us in order for that to happen.  Sometimes it's stress or fear or physical issues, but it's always to get us to rely more full on Him.

Today if you're feeling particularly worried or vulnerable, it's a good time to praise God and thank Him for it.  When we feel the weakest and acknowledge that to Him, that's when we are most mighty.
