Subject: He Can Keep What You Give To Him
2 Timothy 1:12 - "... for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."
There's much ado about the latest church scandal rocking our country. Ted Haggard, whom must had never heard of has admitted to sexual immorality and buying drugs. He headed up the 14,000 member New Life Church in Colorado. These scandals are always big news in our Jerry Springer-driven society and for us it should drive home the responsibility we have as God's people to live above reproach. This is a difficult challenge in this world, but nevertheless, it is our challenge.
It is good to know that when we fall, our God is right there to catch us with His grace, but it's better to know that we don't have to fall at all. The key though is that we must take everything to Him. Pastor Haggard's sexual immorality should have been taken to God and not kept in his "closet." Often that's what we do though. We keep those things neatly tucked away until they build and build and finally come spilling out all over the place.
Today if you have issues, and even if you think they're tucked away, never to be exposed, take them to God. "He is able to keep that which you commit to Him against that day." However, He can only keep what you give to Him. Pray for the holiness of believers around the world.
