Subject: T.O.s In The Church
I Corinthians 12:12 "For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also
is Christ.
If you watch professional football at all, then you've probably heard about the latest flap with a superstar wide receiver who berated his teammates and was then suspended from the team. It was the latest in the Terrel Owens (T.O.) saga at Philadelphia. With all of the talent in the world, the team finally got fed up with his attitude and antics which were detrimental to the team's focus and ability to come together. It's not uncommon these days to find professional athletes with that kind of attitude in sports, but it's so wrong when that type of attitude is found in the church.
Like football, the church calls for people to use their talents, gifts and abilities to support the "team" effort. When someone believes that they "are" the team in the church, then there will always be problems. The pastor of the church has his position to play which is somewhat like the quarterback and every member regardless of their position is to be a part of the team's focus to "win."
Today lets all check ourselves. We don't need T.O.s in the church. Let's come together for the "Big Win."
