Subject:  For Those Who Have Dreamed

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

As I watched the election results late last evening, I was surprised by the number of guests on various news programs who said that they could have never imagined this happening; an African-American elected to the office of President in the United States in their lifetime.  Now either I'm just younger than those who were saying this, or maybe I just have a different view of our country.  I talked to my wife about this and she didn't understand what I was saying until I put it into the simple story of Joseph.

Joseph was a dreamer and was much hated for it.  However, early in life he understood that God was preparing him for something.  Joseph dreamed before he was sold into slavery and so when he went into slavery, he still had his dreams.  I don't believe Joseph was as amazed as others when he finally ascended to the palace in Egypt.  Why?  Because he had dreamed dreams and knew the possibilities of the God he served.

For those who have dreamed dreams and know the omnipotent power of God, while we are still amazed and in awe of what He can do, we can see clearly Him doing it before it happens.  This is the basis of the scripture above.  In Him, all things are possible.  Therefore my current status is not necessarily my final status and surely it is not so when God has given me a vision of something else.  But if you have dreamed no dreams or grasped God's plans for your life, then maybe you can't imagine anything else "in your lifetime."

Today lets pray for our outgoing President and for our President-elect that we remain a country where freedom is cherished and The Lord Jesus Christ is worshipped.  America didn't "just become" a great country, she has always been and that because of Christ.
