Subject: The Subtle Serpent Is Lying
Genesis 3:1 - "Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?"
No pun intended but that old serpent Satan is a "sly devil" isn't he? His scheme has been the same since the garden of Eden and he still gets us with it. What's his scheme? It's this one: if I can't get the leader, I'll get the lead.
I thought about that yesterday as I read excerpts from a letter that the President of Iran wrote to the American people. He said a lot of very nice sounding things like, "Iran and the United States shared a responsibility to promote and protect freedom and human dignity and integrity." What? Well that sounds good but what about that little statement he made a few months ago about wiping Israel off of the face of the earth. I'm not so sure that supports freedom and human dignity.
Iran's President wrote to the American people because when he wrote to our leader, the President, his message went unanswered. Our children learn this early too. If one parent says "no," they will go to the other to see what they can get out of them. Parents know this about their children, but often miss it with themselves.
Today realize that your children, your spouse, those who work for you or even just your friends will be tempted to subvert you by the tempter. That's his scheme and he's really good at it. Wherever you are leading someone, take care of those who are lead. There's always someone lying to them about how much nicer things could be.
