Subject: Can I Stop Giving Thanks Now?
1 Thessalonians 5:18 - "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
The short answer is no. The longer answer talks about how if we waited on the Thanksgiving holiday to give thanks, then we've got major spiritual problems.
It seems that everyone gets excited about the holidays and most get into "the spirit" of giving. People reunite with relatives and friends, spend money on gifts, have big parties and then something strange happens. All of the excitement of the holidays turns to frustration and stress and we hear horrific stories of someone murdering their family members or doing some unimaginably terrible deed. This happens in the season of "thanks." Why?
Perhaps the answer lies in the scripture above. Perhaps the only proper "season of giving" is always. See we often wait on Thanksgiving and Christmas to get "in the spirit" of gratitude. That's faking it. You're not grateful if you wait 365 days to show it. That's not God's plan for giving thanks. His plan says "in every thing," which means that we should always give thanks.
Today don't be like many who are asking the question by the way they live, "can I stop giving thanks now?" Keep the season of gratitude going: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
