Subject:  If It Had Been A Snake...

2Thessalonians 3:3 "But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil."

So we were doing yard work at the church on yesterday.  I went in to the garage of the house located next to the church to put down a bag of mulch and Joe, our maintenance man at the church followed me in with a bag of mulch also.  Suddenly as I exited the garage I heard a loud yell of "whooaaaa!!!"  I initially wasn't startled, but then as he beckoned me to look in the corner where I had just placed the mulch, I saw a somewhat coiled up cottonmouth snake, at least that's what it now appears to have been.  We both went frantic because of its size, then we plotted what to do, i.e. how to kill it.

The interesting part of this story is to see the protection that God gives at times when we are unaware that He is doing so.  The place where I put the mulch was less than a foot away from the 2 and a half-foot poisonous snake and we know that because we measured it after we killed it.  At any time I could've easily been struck and had Joe not been there, I would've remained oblivious to the creature lurking at my feet.

Evil is likewise lurking at our feet every day and it is only God's protection that keeps us.  Today we need to be thankful that God is a God of protection because though we remain oblivious to dangers and evil many times, if it had been a snake, we would have been bitten.
