Subject: An 11 Year-Old Can Change Your Whole Day
Esther 8:7 - "Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews."
Back when I used to take my daughter to the bus stop, I'd often have to pressure her to hurry up because it was almost 5:45. That was her time to be at the bus stop. Even though the bus would often come at 5:55 or close to 6:00, I wanted to ensure that we were there on time because when we were not, besides the prospect of missing the bus, something else happened. Because we live on the corner, the bus driver would look over at our driveway, if she saw that we were coming to catch the bus, she would wait on us. This wasn't a problem except that while she sat on this narrow two-lane road, a huge line of cars would form behind the bus. This huge line of cars then caused a traffic backup of big proportions all the way up to the main highway. I then noticed that it slowed the main highway to a great extent; and all of that because my little 11 year-old daughter was taking her time deciding what to wear or slowly eating her breakfast.
Sometimes we don't realize the impact we make in life. It can be for good or for bad, but either way we need to understand that our actions have a much larger affect than we often realize. We should never feel like our issues only affect us. When we are "off-schedule" we can ruin the day for a lot of people. It also works the other way around like in the story of Esther. Her one act saved the lives of many people. You can read that story in Esther.
Today consider the affect you could have on many that you've never thought about. If an 11 year-old can create a traffic jam in Houston, Texas, because she wanted to eat an extra waffle one morning, think about what you could do with all you've got going on?
