Subject: The Spirit Of The World
1 Corinthians 2:12 - "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God."
Well it gets earlier and earlier every year and it seems to get here faster every year. The Christmas season is upon us and in an ever-increasing trend, stores are getting in on the "Holiday" season. Remember when it used to be Christmas? Listen to what Best Buy, the big electronics store, said about their reason for dropping the Christ word. "We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them." Yea they fell for it. Selling their souls to make a dollar. I suppose they want to ensure not to disenfranchise the 2% of devil worshippers or something.
What makes people sell out on their firmly held beliefs? It's simply deception. It's the deception or blindness that the world creates just because it's, the world. See the whole world system is meant to convince us that everything is relative and that we need to be fair to everyone on everything. The spirit of the world is quite different than the Spirit which is of God. Therefore the two often come into conflict.
When you get that little feeling that makes you want to fight when you see how they have taken Christ out of Christmas or when you see the world catering to sin in our society because they want to be "respectful" to everyone, then that's because the Spirit of God is at war with the spirit of the world.
Today the war goes on. Not just the one in Iraq, but the one in your heart and mind. Lets defeat the spirit of the world. That's a real war on terror.
