Subject: The Free Market Economy Of Sin
Proverbs 2:21 - 22 "For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it."
By now most people are familiar with the big $700 billion bailout that our government passed last month. Many business professionals derided the passage of this bill as opposing our principles of a "free market" economy. A free market economy says that the market itself determines whether or not you survive. If you are unprofitable, your business will fail. The $700 billion bailout was seen as an artificial system to keep failing banks and businesses alive when they should have been dead due to bad business practices.
I agree with the "free market" theory for business because it prevents government from deciding winners and losers. After all if the government bailed out one failing business, why shouldn't they bail out mine?
That's my opinion on the free market "business" economy, but here is God's principle on the free market "sin" economy and it is much the same.
God says that to survive and dwell in the land, you must be upright. To the contrary He says that if you are wicked, you shall be "rooted out of it (the land)". His principles are clear concerning how to succeed in His economy. There is no one to give you a bailout if you are wicked and transgressing His principles. Just as bad business principles kill a business, so too do bad principles regarding righteousness kill a believer.
Today understand the free market economy of sin. If you want to succeed as a believer, you'd better remain profitable. God gave you the one "bailout" you needed at the cross. Now you must live according to His principles if you wish to remain "in business."
