Subject: Be The Valley
Isaiah 40:4 "Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places
plain."
I remember in the "old days," if someone scored a touchdown they usually just threw the ball to the referee and went on to celebrate "with" their teammates on the sidelines. Now there is a new move that happens in College, Professional and even High School athletics. When a player does something great, they stand with their hands on their hips as though to say, "aren't I great?" or "Ain't I the man?" Gone are the days of "team." The pride is in individual accomplishment and the exaltation of self.
There was a funny video online about a guy singing all some classic Christian hymns and contemporary worship songs with a small twist on them. Instead of singing "How Great Thou Art," he sang, "How Great I Am." Instead of "Lord I lift your name on high," he sang, "Lord I lift my name on high." It was funny but it really did make you think about what people are exalting today.
The bible says that "every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill shall be made low." It is God's job to exalt us as we we do our job of humbling ourselves before Him. If we do His job, He'll do ours.
Today, be the valley.
