Subject: Honor, Courage, Commitment
Psa 66:2 Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.
Deu 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he [it is] that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
Psa 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring [it] to pass.
Honor, Courage, Commitment; these are the Core Values of those who have borne the title Marine. These values represent all that is faithful, loyal and true. On this, the birthday of the United States Marine Corps, we take the time to reflect on what it means to be a United States Marine.
Honor - as we sing in the hymn, "to keep our honor clean." Our service must be honorable and worthy of emulation.
Courage - the strength to act in the face of fear or as we say, controlling your fears.
Commitment - remaining true and steadfast to the cause and the mission. These are great values to have not only for Marines, but most especially for warriors of the cross.
Our "Core Values" as believers should more than parallel those of the U.S. Marines. Ours should go above and beyond the call of duty. We have a Commander In Chief who is far greater than the most outstanding military professional ever. He is most worthy of the honor and we "make His praise glorious." He leads us into battle so we do not fear. Courage goes before us. Therefore, we shall commit our ways unto Him and He shall bring our victories to pass in every one of our battles and every war that we shall ever fight.
Today marks the 230th birthday of the Marine Corps. As we remember the service of Marines worldwide, let's give all praise and honor to Him who has been forever, Semper Fi (Always Faithful), our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
