Subject:  Pray For Our Leaders - A National Day Of Prayer

1 Timothy 1:1-2 "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;  For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty."

There was no public observance from the White House on the National Day of Prayer as there had been for the past eight years.  This was disheartening for Shirley Dobson, the Chairperson of the National Day of Prayer.  "We are disappointed in the lack of participation by the Obama administration," she stated.  And while we all understand the private nature of prayer, the President has an awesome opportunity to reinforce the power of prayer every time he or she does something in our nation's highest elected office.

Former President Bill Clinton was most memorable for always being seen carrying his bible with him while going to church.  We don't see that these days and so it's simply a cause for us to pray.  They often refer to the President's office as a "bully pulpit."  How about we pray that it become just a pulpit so that God's purposes can be spread throughout our country?  That type of statement angers many people who talk about separation of church and state, but it matters not.

Today as believers, if we want God/church separated from our state, stop praying for our leaders and we will all see what happens to our country.  All of our leaders need prayer and that's what we should be doing.
