Subject: Guide For Life
Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
We were driving along and I was playing a CD by the group Pillar, a Christian rock band. As they sang the chorus, "I've been fire-proofed," my youngest daughter Caisa remarked, "that reminds me of the chapter in Daniel when they placed the boys in the fire." I was impressed. Not only did she show that she knew what the song was talking about, she made exact biblical reference by book.
There are a lot of things that parents want for their children; to be successful, to grow up to be independent, to be smart, to graduate high school, to graduate college, to get good jobs, to marry the right person and on and on. Those things may be okay for your children to achieve one day, but as for me, the thing that I most want for my children is for them to make the word of God, their guide for life.
If my daughters never achieve any of those other things mentioned above and they can make biblical reference to their actions in life, they will have succeeded far above any other success they could have in this world. Not only that, I will know that they are prepared for the trials of life and will see God as their source for victory in those trials.
Today is your priority to ensure that the word of God is your guide for life? As the scripture says, "it is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path," and that is the path we ought to walk.
