Subject:  Pray For Your Prayer - A National Day Of Prayer

1 Kings 8:28 "Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee to day."

Most people know the often-quoted Psalm 19:14 verse that says "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer."  And since prayer involves communing or communication with the Father, it is important that the words we use when talking to Him be the "right" words.  Now of course this doesn't mean that if you are earnestly seeking God and you use improper terminology that He will not hear you.  Even the Psalm passage says that you should make sure that the meditations of your heart are acceptable as well as the words of your mouth.  So what it means is that we need to pray for our prayers.

When we pray for our prayers, we are not praying for any particular result, except that God "have respect unto our prayer."  That respect comes in the form of us knowing that God hears our cry and is attending to our supplications.  We know this when we seek to make our prayers right before God.  That's how the Holy Spirit then intercedes to "re-interpret" what we should be praying for, if a "re-interpretation" is necessary.

Solomon sought to ensure that God was hearing his prayers.  Perhaps that is what made him wise.  Today we would be wise to do the same thing.  It's one thing to pray for something that may or may not be God's will for you, but it's another thing to pray for your prayer.  When you do that, God will let you know more clearly what is His will for you.
