Subject: God's People - A National Day Of Prayer
Exodus 33:12-13 "And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people."
As I look back, it seems like at any moment in my life, I could always say, "If I've ever needed the Lord, I really need Him now." I think the same is probably true for our country and it's not the result of who was the President at the time or any particular circumstance taking place in our Nation, I think it's simply the way God has designed life. It has been designed so that we could seek Him and know Him more fully everyday.
This week the National Day of Prayer takes place. As we contemplate what we will pray for, consider the words of Moses. "If I have found grace in they sight, shew me now they way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in they sight: and consider that this nation is they people." That is it in a nutshell for us. We who have found grace, should intercede for our nation. Many in our nation will despise that we will do that on their behalf, but it matters not. Moses himself delivered a lot of complaining and whining people from Egypt, but they were still God's people.
This week we will spend the entire time talking about how we can take upon ourselves the responsibility of prayer for our Nation as we lead up to the annual event on Thursday. There is no better undertaking for our country than to ask God to show us the way, that we might now Him more fully. We can pray that every day.
