Today's Devotional

Subject:  God's Plans

Jeremiah 29:11 - "I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope."

The doctor informed me yesterday that I need to have the surgery to repair my ruptured biceps tendon immediately so my life schedule has been severely altered.  I'm scheduled for two separate MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scans today and then I must have a "pre-op" done between today and tomorrow and the surgery will take place early Monday morning.  I had much to do last night to make sure things were taken care of at work, given that I would probably be missing for awhile.  Everything seemed so inconvenient and then I remembered what God said.  As I wrote in a devotional last week, "God knows what He's doing."

The exciting part of life is to ever find out what God is doing and then get with it.  Much of the information from the doctor seemed to negate "my" future plans.  The doctor stated that not only would I be handicapped by the use of my left arm for quite awhile, but I would also have a couple of ugly scars on my left shoulder.  In my mind I was shouting out, "noooo!!!  I'm a bodybuilder.  I need to look perfect."  Oh well, my life is being changed and now I've got to adjust.  I could be really frustrated right now, but because of passages like those above, my hope soars. I'm not really sure what is going on, but it's got to be good.

God's plans are always better than our plans.  In my case, His plan calls for a physical change to my body.  I'm just wondering, how is He going to use that to bring glory to Himself.  I'm sure I'll find out soon.

Today lets take that schedule that alters your life and see that by design it was brought about to bring you hope.  That hope comes from knowing that God's plans are to bring you peace.  Be motivated today.  God's plans are great!!!
