Subject: Telling People Or Telling God?
Philippians 1:19 "For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ."
I really do get amazed at the lessons that God teaches me through my daughters. They have some fundamentals of the faith that I seem to neglect after all of my years. They receive a daily conduct "star" on paper and parents need to initial each day that they have seen it. At the beginning of the school year I was quite negligent in doing it daily and when I'd miss, my daughters would tell me about it the next day. Earlier this year they stopped saying anything to me about it and I noticed in their prayers at night, every now and then I'd hear one of them mention it. They'd say something like, "and please help daddy remember to sign our folders..." As they were praying I'd think to myself, "hey I can do that on my own," but of course history had proven differently.
What the girls seem to understand that I struggle with is that for all of my good advice and efforts to get people to change, I can't do it. Like my daughters, I would be well-served if sometimes I just shut my mouth and told God about it.
Today, think about it. Do you spend more time telling people about themselves or talking to God about the people?
