Subject: The Praise And Worship Cycle

Psalms 50:23 - "Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God."

Many people talk about God and church, but don't understand how it becomes practical for everyday living.  They see no connection between going to church on Sunday and what happens when you're simply walking down the street or driving on the road.  Here is a simple real life case.

As I was driving home one day from work about noon, I noticed that it had rained a bit and that has always spelled trouble for my little red beamer.  I was driving on the inside lane of a multi-lane highway and saw the puddle a second too late.  The car began to hydroplane for a few seconds and then slammed into the concrete barrier wall.  That force then started the car into a spin and sent it to the other side of the road and down the embankment.  The car went up on two wheels and held there for a few seconds as if deciding whether or not to turn over.  Then it came back down on all four wheels and tried to go up the hill back into traffic before finally coming to rest in the grass just short of the roadway.  It was quite harrowing and as I related the story to my wife, she quoted the song that best fits how I felt during the whole thing.  It's that song by Carrie Underwood, "Jesus Take The Wheel."

The whole key to the situation is seeing not just that God saved me in that incident, but how praising Him on a normal day and living for Him everyday is related.  In the passage above it says that those who glorify and praise Him and "order their conversation aright," i.e. live right, will see God's rescuing power.  That's what I saw in the accident.  God doesn't only save His people, but it is His people who can see through their worship of Him how He saves.  The strange thing is how it gives more cause for praise and worship and so the cycle begins.  We praise and glorify Him, we see Him take us through circumstances, we see Him bring us out of those circumstances and so we praise and worship Him more.

Today, if you know someone who is not in the praise and worship cycle, invite them to church with you and explain to them this simple principle of the grace of God.
