Subject:  Go Home

Mark 5:19b - "... Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee."

Tomorrow I leave northern Virginia and head back to Texas.  This culminates 20 years of service to the Marine Corps.  I remember it like yesterday.  I arrived in Quantico, Virginia on June 10th of 1985 and began Officer's Candidate School.  Of course it only took me a few minutes to begin to question my sanity, but God saw me through that and then through the next 20 years of adventure.  It was a great ride and now I feel like the kid who went to Six Flags with another family and is returning home with much excitement to tell mom and dad how much fun it was.

God does so many great things for us that we could never tell of them all, but He gives us a biblical imperative to speak of His great love and grace just as He did to the man in the passage above who was possessed.

I'm really excited about going home and getting involved in God's work because I do feel like I have experienced much and God has shown much compassion on me for these last 20 years, not to mention the other 22.  It's great to know that just as God did with the apostle's that He can send us out on a mission to the world, but it's also quite pleasing to know that He can send us back home.

Today go home with the purpose that God gives us, to tell our friends what He's done.  That just might change the way you see home.
