Subject:  School's Out - Let The Learning Begin

Deuteronomy 5:1  "And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them."

My daughters had their last day of school yesterday.  It's odd to watch children get excited about school being out, because they are equally excited when it begins.  Of course they feel like they can relax because there is no more homework and teaching and learning and all of that stuff.  In reality, when school is out, that's when the learning begins.

All academics, be it, pre-kindergarten or college, is only useful for preparing students for the problems that they will face in life.   And the most amazing thing is that even the greatest teaching doesn't adequately prepare us for all of the problems we will face.  School simply prepares us to enter the life-long course of learning.

That's also how God prepares us.  We can read and study His word and have a lot of head knowledge about what God has said, but it isn't until we enter the real world of acting upon His teachings that we begin to learn and understand who He is and what He is about.

Our life in Christ, like our lives in the school-house go in a cycle.  We learn and we apply.  We learn and we apply.  That's how learning happens.

So understand today that though school may be out for many around the country, whether you are a believer or an unbeliever, the learning is just starting.
