Subject:  Dominion And A Can Of Raid

Genesis 1:26  "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth."

We have a running joke at the church about "dominion."  It started with the killing of a snake a while back and now we use the word "dominion" anytime we feel challenged by one of God's creatures.

Monday we were having another church cleanup.  My wife walked into one particular room to be faced with some Texas-sized roaches.  She came back telling me how she was attempting to exercise "dominion" and not be intimidated.  I told her , "you can exercise a whole lot more dominion with a can of raid."  She tried it and came back acknowledging that it was in fact easier to exercise dominion with that can of raid.

Sometimes as believers, we talk about living as God would have us, but we find it difficult to do.  However, it gets easier when we're properly equipped.  God didn't just tell us to live the Christian life.  He gave us many tools, most notably, His Holy Spirit, indwelling us to empower us for daily living.

Today, if we're going to live the Christ life of dominion, that is in the power and authority that He has given to us all, we may or may not need a can of raid, but we surely need the Spirit of God.  That's real dominion.
