Subject: This Ain't Berkeley
Philppians 2:19 "But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state."
I was surprised to find out that a co-worker was actually from California. It made for good conversation when I also realized that she attended the University of California Berkeley. As most know, this is one of the most, how can I say it tactfully...uhm, well crazy places in the U.S. They were the school that attempted to get the Marines kicked off of campus because they didn't want the military there recruiting. I was quite interested in how my coworker was adjusting to life in a state such as Texas is after living for so long in that environment. Here is some of what she had to say.
"I was shocked the first time I attended a school function. Before we began to eat they prayed and they said "in Jesus name" in the prayer too. I immediately thought "you can't do that."
I went on to ask her about billboards she has seen while driving and the vast number of Christian ideas and thoughts that she has to deal with in Texas as compared to Berkeley. I finally told her, "well ma'am, this ain't Berkeley!"
Like any state, Texas has it faults but it does still respect God. What state are you living in? I'm not talking geographically. I'm talking about your personal state. Have you kicked God out of an area of your life? Is it strange now to have Him involved in your relationships, your conversation or your daily dealings.
Today, no pun intended, reinstate God.
