Subject:  I Can't Get No, Satisfaction

Philippians 4:11  "Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."

I've decided to stop complaining about gas prices.  I still have money to pay for gas so I keep going.  I decided to stop complaining about some of the trifling people in my life or should I say, people I think of as trifling.  I simply help where I can and keep moving.  I decided to stop complaining about my daughters not getting it all right now.  I simply have the task of training them up and that's what God wants for me.

It is difficult for us to stop our complaining and live contented lives.  But as I delivered the message at our church on Sunday, I think I found a key factor about why we often sound like the tag from the Mick Jagger song in the title of today's devotion.  It's because we're more concerned about our satisfaction that we are about His satisfaction with us.

I end with this old hymn that sounds so fresh to me since I sang it Sunday.

I am satisfied.

I am satisfied.

I am satisfied with Jesus

And the question comes to me

As I think of Calvary

Is my master, satisfied with me?

Think about that today.  Like Paul, and unlike Mick, we can get some satisfaction.  Be content in whatever situation you find yourself today and see if He can get some satisfaction with you.
