Subject: Living Downstream
Joel 3:18 "And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth out of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.."
Our next door neighbor is about an acre and a half away. It's nice that he happens to be a landscaper and he keeps his yard in immaculate condition. What I recently noticed is that the drainage area in my front yard grows a really healthy grade of grass considering that I never really fertilized it or anything. As a matter of fact, it looks almost as good as my actual lawn, which I spend quite a bit of time nurturing and grooming. It finally dawned on me that whatever fertilizer or chemicals that my neighbor is putting on his well-manicured lawn, is running down through the drainage and fertilizing the area in front of my house. How nice. I compared it to the other side of the street and noticed that area isn't nearly as nice as mine and I didn't even have to work for it.
Sometimes that's just how God is. He just lets His blessings flow and we receive them as they run down like mighty waters from the mountain to the valley. While I could see that physically with my lawn, I see it spiritually too.
Much of what I've received in life has been through none of my own doing or faith, but the faithfulness of my parents, relatives, neighbors and friends. Sometimes I receive the "good" in life because of people who are "keeping their yards" and I just happen to live downstream.
Today I live downstream from so many of you so thanks for the blessings with which you bless "my lawn."
