Subject: Mercy Was The Make-up
Isaiah 54:8 - "In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer."
There are just some people who feel like they always end up on the short end of the stick. Some people feel as though they never get a break and that the world is against them. Such was the case of a few students at the high school graduation rehearsal. One of the students happened to be one that I had for 3rd period. I'd seen it before from her. She doesn't pay attention to the more important issues of school. She failed a class and just found out that she would not be graduating. Several of my coworkers wanted to go to the teacher on her behalf and make a case for her. Not me. I was pretty sure that grace had been extended to her and that it had been rejected. They returned from their talk with the teacher who had failed her and that was the line. The teacher had given the student numerous chances to make up several failing grades and the student ignored and refused.
God's mercy is always there, but so often we ignore and refuse it and then when His wrath comes, we feel like we are being wrongfully punished.
Today, see God reaching out His hand of mercy as another way for you to "make up" that test that you failed. His mercy is so great that He will give you another opportunity to pass it. However, sooner or later, He will give you a grade. If you ignored the make-up test, don't hate the grade. Even then, He can re-enroll you for the class. This time pay attention in class.
