Subject: A Living Memorial
Romans 12:1 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Today we remember the sacrifice of those men and woman who thought it a worthy cause to risk their lives for the principles and ideals of this country that we call America; land of the free and home of the brave. While we memorialize their deaths in this great and noble cause, what is missed that they not only died for this country, but that they lived for it as well. The truth of the matter is this, before you die for any great cause or thing, you must first live for it.
No Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine can die in the service of his/her country unless they are willing to answer the call of duty in their profession. This is true for us as believers as well. If we are not living for Christ, then we will surely not be willing to give our lives for Him and in His cause.
God tells us in Romans that our service is to sacrificially give of ourselves daily to Him. This is our great fight, to be acceptable to Him.
Today the question on this Memorial Day of 2009 is, "will you die in His service?" If so, you must first live in His service. Our memorial is not only to have lived, but to be a living memorial.
