Subject: What They Don't Know About Help
2 Chronicles 20:9 "If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help."
Hebrews 4:16 "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."
Two of the largest natural disasters in recent history continue to take lives in China and Myanmar. China, with over 50,000 dead, immediately allowed international aid workers in to offer assistance. However, only yesterday did Myanmar, with over 134,000 dead or missing, finally admit to allow international relief workers into their country to help with the relief effort.
Both of these countries are non-Christian for the most part, so there are many things they don't know about help. Specifically, they are perhaps unaware that the God of the bible is the source of all help as described in the 2 Chronicles passage above. This is an opportunity for them to learn that fact.
Secondly, both countries need to understand grace. It is an understanding of grace that allows us to see God working through people to render aid and assistance when we need it. Grace teaches us that there are simply times when all we do will not be enough and we must then rely on Him.
Today we pray for the door that has been opened in both of these countries. May believers around the world walk through that door to HELP!
