Subject: Playing With An Injury
Jeremiah 10:19 - "Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous; but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it."
It happens frequently in professional sports. Your team is in the championship game and your star player gets hurt. What are you going to do? The player sometimes takes it upon himself to forget his pain and fight it out with all he's got. That's how I feel about going back to work. I've been out a couple of days now and our school year ends on Thursday, so I've been trying to see if I could "play injured."
This would be a good lesson for life also. Sometimes we get hurt by circumstances or situations in life. We could drop out of the game because of that hurt or we could play with the injury, knowing that our trainer will fix us up after the game. I've heard people who have gone through a painful divorce say, "I'll never love anyone like that again." That's dropping out of the game because of an injury. There are many more examples, but the key is that you've got to see that it's the fourth quarter of life at whatever age you are.
As the verse above says, sometimes it's painful but you've got to deal with it. Today is your chance to make a difference in the game. Don't let a broken toenail keep you out of the Super Bowl. Check with the "Trainer" and see if you can go.
