Subject: Is It Good Or Bad For Me?
1 Timothy 4:4-5 "For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer."
It's enough to hear science swing back and forth on various food products and how they are good for you one day and bad for you the next, but guess what the latest pendulum activity pertains to. It pertains to the sun. Yes, now many doctors believe that the sun itself is responsible for the prevention of cancer. The vitamin D, which the human body produces from sunlight, is being used more and more in the prevention of some forms of cancer, particularly, colon, prostate, lung and, ironically, the skin. To me this is just another one of those cases where God's principle has already answered the question on whether or not something is good or bad.
While the scriptures above apply to what we can or can not eat, I think this principle applies to all areas of our life. If we are attuned to what God is doing and are praying about what we do, where we go and how we're maintaining our "temple" then all things can be beneficial for us. See it isn't the just eating the fat donut that is bad for us, it's not praying for our food with thanksgiving that makes it really bad. It's also not that pork is any worse than beef for the body, it's that neither of them are sanctified if they are not received by giving thanks to God.
So the next time science and scientists hit you with their latest discovery, let them know what you've already discovered. Much in this life we'll never know about the technical aspects of food, the sun and whether or not they are good or bad for us, but what we do know is that they are all sanctified by the word of God and prayer. In the name of Jesus, it's all good for us, especially the "Son" light.
